Priscilla Dray, a mother of three, was awarded a partial legal victory 14 years after a medical procedure resulted in the amputation of all four limbs. Two doctors, Martial Dekhili and François Vandenbossche, were found guilty of involuntary injuries and sentenced to six and nine months of suspended prison sentences, respectively, along with an 8,000 euro fine each and an additional 10,000 euros in legal fees. The CHU de Bordeaux hospital was acquitted.
While the plaintiff's lawyer hailed the convictions as significant, the victim, Ms. Dray, expressed dissatisfaction, believing the punishment was insufficient to address the devastating impact of the medical error on her life. She emphasizes that the doctors can continue practicing, potentially repeating similar actions.
