Kayleigh Heckel, a 5-foot-9 guard from Port Chester, New York, and former USC player, has committed to UConn's women's basketball team. This commitment fills UConn's final scholarship spot for the 2025-26 season.
Ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the Class of 2025, Heckel chose USC over Alabama, Tennessee, and Stanford. During her freshman year at USC, she averaged 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 17 minutes per game. She was a McDonald's All-American in high school, playing alongside UConn's Sarah Strong.
Heckel's addition provides depth in the backcourt, especially with the departure of Paige Bueckers. She joins other key players like KK Arnold, Ashlynn Shade, and incoming freshman Kelis Fisher.
UConn has a perfect record with transfers, including successful players like Dorka Juhasz, Lou Lopez Senechal, and Kaitlyn Chen. Only one UConn player, Qadence Samuels, entered the transfer portal.
