UConn Men's Basketball Hires New Assistant Coach

The UConn men's basketball program is hiring a new assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. Tom Moore, who previously held a dual role as assistant coach and general manager, will transition to focusing solely on general manager duties.

Mike Nardi: Leading Candidate

Former Villanova assistant coach Mike Nardi is reportedly the leading candidate for the open position. Nardi played for Villanova (2003-07) and served as an assistant under Jay Wright and Kyle Neptune (2018-25). He was the interim head coach at Villanova after Neptune's departure but will not remain on staff under new head coach Kevin Willard.

UConn Coaching Staff

UConn head coach Dan Hurley retained his other two assistants, Luke Murray and Kimani Young, both of whom signed three-year contracts last summer. Hurley emphasizes the importance of finding coaches who share his intense work ethic.

Nardi's background includes playing for Kevin Boyle at St. Patrick's High School and working his way up through various roles at Villanova before becoming an assistant coach.
