The University of Connecticut (UConn) men's basketball team announced the addition of Mike Nardi to its coaching staff. Nardi, formerly an assistant coach at Villanova University, brings extensive experience and a winning track record to UConn.
Nardi's career includes seven years as an assistant coach at Villanova under both Jay Wright and Kyle Neptune. He also served as Villanova's interim head coach, leading the Wildcats to a 2-1 record in the College Basketball Crown tournament. His time at Villanova saw two national championships (2016 and 2018), three Final Fours, and multiple Big East titles. Before coaching, Nardi was a four-year starter at Villanova, playing a significant role in the team's success, and subsequently played professionally overseas for eight years.
Nardi will be joining UConn's coaching staff alongside associate head coach Kimani Young and assistant coach Luke Murray, replacing Tom Moore, who is transitioning to a general manager position.
UConn head coach Dan Hurley expressed excitement about Nardi's addition, highlighting his experience and contributions to winning programs. Nardi's unique perspective is expected to contribute to UConn's pursuit of championship goals.
