The PolÃcia Federal (PF) indicted Flamengo's Bruno Henrique for suspected match manipulation, specifically 'spot-fixing' related to a yellow card he received. Three betting companies reported suspicious betting patterns, including a high volume of bets on Bruno Henrique receiving a card, primarily from newly created accounts in Belo Horizonte, his hometown. Two sports integrity firms also found evidence suggesting fraud.
One betting company reported that 98% of bets on cards were placed on Bruno Henrique, leading them to suspend that market before the game. The PF obtained WhatsApp conversations between Bruno Henrique and his brother, Wander Nunes Pinto Junior, suggesting collusion to receive a yellow card for profit.
Bruno Henrique's brother, sister-in-law, and cousin were also indicted for placing bets related to the yellow card. Their conversations revealed concerns over delayed payments from the betting companies, further supporting the suspicions of fraud.
Bruno Henrique's representatives declined to comment. Flamengo stated they were not officially informed but support due process and the presumption of innocence. The PolÃcia Federal also declined further comment.
