Sizewell C Security Contract Awarded to G4S

G4S, a global security company, has been awarded the principal security contract for the Sizewell C nuclear power station under construction in Suffolk, England. This contract encompasses security for the main construction site and off-site locations, including a hydrogen-powered bus fleet, park and rides, and an accommodation campus.

Job Creation

At its peak, G4S will employ up to 350 people, primarily recruited locally. Currently, they already have 220 employees at Sizewell C project locations, with 14 apprentices. The new roles will include supervisors, team leaders, duty security managers, and Enhanced Security Officers (ESOs).

Security Measures

The security solutions will include cutting-edge technology and systems, many tested at the Hinkley Point C nuclear project in Somerset. A central security control room will manage site incidents and emergencies.

Positive Impact

G4S aims to make a significant positive impact on the local community by providing job opportunities and training. They will leverage their experience at Hinkley Point C to optimize security and training at Sizewell C. The project is expected to create thousands of job opportunities in Suffolk and across the UK over the next decade.
