Prank Call During NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders, the son of Deion Sanders, experienced a prank phone call during the NFL Draft, where a caller falsely claimed to be Mickey Loomis, general manager of the New Orleans Saints, stating they would select him soon. This incident occurred while Sanders was waiting to be drafted, having expectations of being picked on Day 1.

The Hoax

The prank call, recorded and shared by Shedeur's brother on YouTube, involved a convincing impersonation of Loomis. The caller promised to draft Sanders but stated he would need to wait longer, then abruptly hung up. This occurred on Friday, following an extended wait that had already lasted for two days and three rounds.

Shedeur's Reaction

Shedeur Sanders, though initially confused due to the caller having his private NFL contact number, remained unfazed by the incident. He pointed out that the prank was likely intended to elicit a specific emotional response, but he refused to be upset. Later, the Saints actually selected a different quarterback.

Family and Support

The video also showed Deion Sanders, Shedeur's father, and his brother, Shilo Sanders (also an NFL prospect), offering support throughout the stressful waiting period. Deion expressed frustration about the prank.

Unselected

Despite being projected as a first-round pick and having his jersey retired at Colorado, Shedeur Sanders remained undrafted after the third day of the draft. He took to social media with an optimistic message, expressing his enthusiasm and determination to pursue his NFL dreams.
