Increased High-Speed Rail Services Between Málaga and Madrid

This summer will see a significant increase in high-speed train services between Málaga and Madrid, reaching a record 52 daily trains (26 in each direction).

Participating Operators

  • Ouigo: Will double its frequencies to two new circulations per direction, offering affordable fares and high-capacity trains.
  • Renfe: Will offer up to 15 trains in each direction (30 daily), including AVE and Avlo services, leveraging double composition trains to increase capacity.
  • Iryo: Will increase its services to seven trains per direction in August.

This surge in services results in increased seat availability and, unexpectedly, lower prices. Fares as low as €15-€20 per trip are currently available.

Improved Travel Times

The completion of renovations on the Madrid-Sevilla high-speed rail line has also contributed to reduced travel times, with most direct trains reaching their destination in under three hours. While travel times have shortened, they are not yet as fast as in the initial years of high-speed rail.
