Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former Indian cricket captain, has been named the Goodwill Ambassador for VISION 2020 India.
VISION 2020 India aims to eliminate avoidable blindness in India. The initiative addresses a significant public health concern, with millions affected by blindness and visual impairment, a large percentage of which is preventable.
Srikkanth will actively participate in awareness campaigns and support the provision of free eye check-ups, surgeries, and vision correction services to underserved communities.
The announcement was made by Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai, a key member of Vision 2020: The Right to Sight-India. Phanindra Babu Nukella (CEO of VISION 2020 India), T.S. Surendran (Chairman of Sankara Nethralaya), and Rajesh Saini (President of Vision 2020) were involved.
