The HBO Harry Potter series has announced several new cast members. Lox Pratt will play Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn will be Lucius Malfoy, Bel Powley will portray Petunia Dursley, and Daniel Rigby will play Vernon Dursley. Katherine Parkinson has been cast as Molly Weasley.
Additional castings include Hogwarts students: Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.
Bertie Carvel will play Cornelius Fudge. Previously announced cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
The three young leads, Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), were announced earlier.
Filming will soon begin at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. The series is described as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books and will run for a decade. It's executive produced by Rowling, alongside others.
This casting differs from the film adaptations, notably with the Dursleys being portrayed as younger than in the movies.
