Danish Crown Restructuring

Danish Crown, a major player in the meat industry, is undergoing a significant restructuring. The company aims to improve its profitability by splitting into three separate business units: Danish Crown Industry, Danish Crown Foods, and Danish Crown UK. Each unit will have its own management team and will be independently assessed for performance.

Reasons for Restructuring

The restructuring is driven by the company's struggle to remain competitive due to high salaries in Denmark and the lack of significant returns from a 2021 merger of its pork and foods divisions.

New Business Units

  • Danish Crown Industry: Focuses on pig slaughtering and sales to industrial clients (5,200 employees, €2.28 billion turnover).
  • Danish Crown Foods: Focuses on production and sale of fresh and processed products to retail and food service clients (3,000 employees, €1.74 million turnover).
  • Danish Crown UK: Operates as an independent unit with local management responsible for UK production and sales (1,000 employees, €540 million turnover).

During the transition, CEO Niels Duedahl will act as interim CEO for all three units until permanent replacements are appointed.
