Basanagouda Badarli, nephew of Hampannagouda Badarli, Sindhanur Congress MLA, has been elected president of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress.
Votes secured
Mr. Badarli, who secured 34,000 votes, defeated K. Kemparaj, who bagged 19,600 votes.
In the multi-cornered contest, Madhugiri MLA K.N. Rajanna’s son K.N. Rajendra secured 14,000 votes.
Mr. Badarli, who belongs to the Lingayat community, succeeds Rizwan Arshad, Congress MLC, whose tenure as the Youth Congress president for six years has ended.
Vice-presidents
Mr. Kemparaj, K. Shivakumar, Rajendra (reserved category), and Sumaiya Tabrez, who contested for the post of president, have become vice-presidents of the youth wing.
Polling for all posts of office-bearers for the State, district and city committees was held from May 14 to May 16.
