The first of two Aroma Joe’s locations in Bangor will open for the first time at 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

The new coffee shop, located at 444 Main St., will be open from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, according to Bob Brennan, co-owner of the coffee shop. The location will have both a drive-thru and indoor seating.

The business will sell coffee, espresso drinks and other caffeinated beverages with some breakfast food options, including breakfast sandwiches, muffins and doughnuts, Brennan said. Aroma Joe’s is perhaps best known for its Rush energy drinks, Brennan said, which come in a variety of flavors.

The grand opening will come after four months of renovations to turn the location, which previously held a Tim Horton’s, into the city’s first Aroma Joe’s.

“We’re looking forward to being in Bangor,” Brennan said. “It’s been a long time coming.”

Though this storefront was the second Aroma Joe’s location to be announced in Bangor, it will be the first storefront to open. Brennan co-owns another Aroma Joe’s location on the northeast corner of Hogan and Haskell roads, announced last July, which will open in mid-June, Brennan said.

Previously, the closest Aroma Joe’s to Bangor was on Park Street in Orono.

Founded in 2000 by four cousins from Maine, the chain has grown to include more than 100 locations throughout the Northeast.

The Bangor shops are two of the 11 Aroma Joe’s locations Brennan and his business partner, Aaron Wiswell, are working to open in various states, including three in Florida. The pair are also working to bring Aroma Joe’s locations to Newport, Skowhegan and Farmington, Brennan said.

“It’s a great brand and it’s a lot of fun,” Brennan said. “We’re selling happiness in a cup.”
