On Sunday, a woman was severely injured during an attack at a South Windsor residence. Police responded to a report of an emotionally disturbed person and found a man choking the woman, who was attempting to defend herself with scissors.
Officers used a taser to subdue the attacker. During the struggle, the man bit off the woman's ear.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. The assailant was also taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
A woman’s ear was bitten off on Sunday at a home in South Windsor where police had to use a taser on a man who allegedly attacked her.
Police at 8:20 p.m. responded to a residence on Norton Lane on the report of an emotionally disturbed person and found a man choking a woman, according to Lt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police Department. Cleverdon said she was trying to stab the man with a pair of scissors to free herself.
Officers used a taser on the man to try to subdue him, according to Cleverdon. At some point during the struggle the woman’s ear was bitten off, he said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Cleverdon said. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Cleverdon said the “criminal aspect” of the incident remains under investigation.
