Tyler Shough, a 26-year-old quarterback, is generating significant interest as a potential NFL Draft pick in 2025. His lengthy college career, spanning seven years across three different schools, makes him an older prospect.
Despite his age, Shough's efficiency and character traits are seen as attractive to NFL teams. He has faced a setback due to injuries during his career, but NFL sources still view him as an ‘NFL ready’ player, who possesses a high level of efficiency and an excellent character. Although lacking a standout “Superman” trait, he could start for several NFL teams.
Shough's unique profile makes him an unpredictable factor in an otherwise underwhelming quarterback class.
Tyler Shough signed with Oregon one year before fourth-year pro Kayvon Thibodeaux offered his college commitment.
He was part of the same 2018 high school class as fifth-year pros Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. He is one of the oldest 2025 NFL Draft prospects — already married and set to turn 26 in September. He spent seven years at three different colleges, but still attempted fewer career passes than Shedeur Sanders.
And – because of his age and ability – Shough is the wild card in an underwhelming quarterback draft class, with two chances to land in New York via the Giants (general manager Joe Schoen is watching) or Jets.
“He’s NFL ready,” one NFL offensive assistant coach told The Post. “I don’t know if he has a ‘Superman’ trait, but I think he is an unbelievably efficient quarterback who can win a lot of games. There’s no such thing as a ‘safe’ pick, but you can bet that he is the type of person you want in your facility, and just hope his injuries aren’t crazy.”
