Daniel Belling, a German national, was acquitted by the Rome Court of Appeals for the charges of voluntary homicide and destruction of a corpse related to the disappearance of his 36-year-old wife, Xiang Lei Li, during a 2017 Mediterranean cruise. The initial trial had resulted in a 26-year prison sentence.
