The Polícia Civil in Brazil launched Operation Domus Securus on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of six individuals suspected of involvement in a vehicle theft ring. Seven search and seizure warrants were executed in Porto Alegre, Alvorada, and Viamão.
The gang is accused of a March home invasion in Porto Alegre's Restinga neighborhood. The suspects bound the homeowner and an employee, stealing electronics, jewelry, and a vehicle. They also extorted R$35,000 via Pix from the homeowner.
The suspects have extensive criminal records, including homicide, robbery, and armed robbery. One suspect was also arrested for possession of restricted firearms and ammunition. Their identities remain undisclosed.
The operation, led by the Delegacia de Repressão ao Roubo de Veículos, aims to dismantle criminal organizations that use stolen vehicles to commit other crimes, including homicides.

O grupo alvo da operação é investigado por ter invadido uma casa na Restinga, na zona sul de Porto Alegre, em março deste ano. Na ação, os criminosos deixaram o proprietário e um funcionário amarrados e roubaram objetos eletrônicos, joias e o veículo da vítima. O grupo ainda praticou extorsão, obrigando o homem a fazer um Pix de R$ 35 mil.
De acordo com a Polícia Civil, os integrantes possuem extensa ficha criminal, incluindo homicídio, latrocínio e roubos. Um dos homens também foi detido em flagrante por posse de arma e munição de uso restrito. A identidade dos presos não foi divulgada.
A operação da Delegacia de Repressão ao Roubo de Veículos foi chamada de Domus Securus e faz parte da estratégia de enfrentamento a esse tipo de crime. O objetivo é desarticular quadrilhas que roubam para cometer outros delitos, como homicídios.
