Former MLA verbally attacked Shivaraj Patil and Tipparaj Hawaldar, MLAs of Raichur City and Rural constituencies respectively, for their "disinterest and unconcern" in taking up burning issues at their constituencies.
Addressing a mediapersons at Reporters' Guild here on Tuesday, he criticised that both the MLAs did nothing but misusing their powers to make money.
"Roadside drains are blocked for years and roads have become drains in the city. Heaps of garbage, unclean roads, pavements and drains and pothole-riddled streets are found everywhere. The entire city has become a big mosquito breeding site. Muddy water, unfit for drinking, is supplied once in two days for a short period, which is insufficient for two days. Neither Municipal Councillors have taken any interest in addressing these issues nor did Raichur MLA raised voice on them, despite people stage demonstration on daily basis outside the offices of City Municipal Council and Deputy Commissioner. When people are leading a miserable life, these people's representatives are busy with striking commission deals with contractors," Mr. Papareddy charged.
He alleged that MLA Shivaraj Patil was obstructing development works in his constituency wherever he failed to strike a deal with contractors. He held Raichur Rural MLA Tipparaju Hawaldar responsible for modifying the original plan for extending Narayanpur Right Bank Canal (NRBC) so as to serve his personal interests. "Because of modified plan, over 50,000 acres of dry-lands at would be deprived of irrigation facilities," he said.
He called upon general public to act against the MLAs.
