Emery J. Balint, 22, of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, has been charged with a felony for fleeing law enforcement. He led state troopers on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of over 100 mph on August 3, 2023.
The chase began on West Fourth Street near the city-Woodward Township line and continued north on Daughterys Run Road. Despite evading capture initially, police obtained Balint's license plate from his 2018 Honda Civic, which was registered to him.
Balint waived his preliminary hearing and is currently free on $25,000 bail.
Court records indicate Balint was critically injured in a DUI motorcycle crash in April of the previous year.
Motorist Emery J. Balint, 22, of 122 N. Montour St., Montoursville, has been charged with felony fleeing law enforcement after taking state troopers on a high-speed pursuit that began on West Fourth Street near the city-Woodward Township line and continued north on Daughterys Run Road, reaching speeds “upwards of 100 mph” about 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, it was alleged in an affidavit.
Even though Balint eluded them, police were able to get the license plate off the 2018 Honda Civic he was driving, the court document stated. Balint was the registered owner of the car.
Formerly of 1100 block of Race St., Balint has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $25,000 bail.
He was critically injured last year in late April in a DUI crash in which his motorcycle landed in a creek on Jacks Hollow Road in Armstrong Township, according to court records.
