Millburn High School secured a 12-4 win against Newark Academy in the first round of the Greater Newark Tournament. Greg Rosenthal's impressive performance, falling just a triple short of a cycle, contributed significantly to Millburn's victory.
Millburn, seeded fourth, overcame a 4-3 deficit after the third inning. They rallied to tie the game in the fourth and pulled ahead with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Newark Academy's Jared Levine, Caleb Epstein, and Avery Sampson each recorded an RBI.
Millburn's final score was 12-4.
Millburn will advance to the quarterfinals, facing fifth-seeded Verona on Wednesday.
Greg Rosenthal was a triple short of a cycle with three RBI and two runs to lead fourth-seeded Millburn past 13th-seeded Newark Academy 12-4 in the Greater Newark Tournament first round in Millburn.
Millburn (7-8) led 6-4 entering the bottom of the sixth inning before pulling away with six more runs.
Newark Academy (8-4) led 4-3 at the end of the third inning before Millburn tied things up in the fourth.
Jared Levine, Caleb Epstein, and Avery Sampson had an RBI for Newark Academy.
Millburn will face fifth-seeded Verona in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
