An extensive theft of thousands of military uniforms from Polish army warehouses has been uncovered. The Ministry of National Defence (MON) initiated an emergency inventory check in April, following reports from Onet.pl.
The Military Gendarmerie has detained three individuals. The exact nature of the theft—whether physical theft or fraudulent procurement—is still under investigation by MON. The scale of the theft suggests the involvement of organized crime.
General Waldemar Skrzypczak, former commander of the Land Forces, suspects organized activity, suggesting that the problem goes beyond simple theft by warehouse personnel and likely involves higher-level complicity within the supply chain.
Na początku kwietnia we wszystkich wojskowych magazynach Ministerstwo Obrony Narodowej zarządziło nadzwyczajną kontrolę. Jak ujawnił portal Onet, dojść miało do zakrojonej na szeroką skalę kradzieży mundurów. Z wojskowych magazynów wyparować miały tysiące ich sztuk. Trafiały one następnie do obrotu cywilnego. Żandarmeria Wojskowa zatrzymała już w tej sprawie trzy osoby. MON oficjalnie nie ujawnia, jak wyglądał cały proceder: czy dochodziło do fizycznych kradzieży ze składów, czy też do oszustw podczas dostaw.
– Wydaje mi się, że to nie sprawa ochrony, ale magazynierów. Jeśli to jest tak wielka skala, to można nawet sądzić, że niektóre transporty mundurów do jednostek nie docierały. Uważam, że to była działalność zorganizowana i jej źródeł trzeba raczej szukać nie u jakiegoś sierżanta magazyniera, ale wyżej – ocenia gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak, były dowódca Wojsk Lądowych.
