Blackburn Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has confirmed that Thomas Toth will remain as the starting goalkeeper for the foreseeable future. This decision follows Toth's recent successful starts, including a win against Millwall.
Tomasson stated that Toth's performances, particularly in recent matches, justify his continued place in the team. He emphasized that the decision is not a reflection on Aynsley Pears' abilities but rather an opportunity to assess Toth's capabilities more thoroughly and provide competition for the goalkeeper position.
The manager indicated that Toth's starting role will continue at least through the upcoming match against Sunderland, providing further evaluation of his performance. The competition between the two goalkeepers is seen as beneficial to the team's overall strength.
Aynsley Pears has been the undisputed number one for the entire season, limiting Toth to two Championship appearances. Both of those were in the absence of Pears after illness and injury.
The win over Millwall was Toth's first start with Pears also available and that will be the same situation on Monday at Sunderland. Toth looks set to keep the gloves for the foreseeable future to allow Ismael a clear understanding of his goalkeeping options.
"Yeah, I think now it's clear that he's coming to the team and we've got two wins," Ismael told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"So now he deserves to stay in the goal. So it's no question whatsoever.
It's not against Aynsley. It was an unlucky situation for him at that moment. But now it's the competition in that position and we want to see him, assess him properly.
"I think Luton was a really good test for him. Today at home, when you have more of the ball, when you have to create something, you need your goalkeeper. Now on Monday will be another test.
"So, yes, for sure he will be there in the goal for the next game."
