Inquest Opened
An inquest has begun into the death of Robert Fordham, an 80-year-old retired civil engineer, who died in an ambulance on October 7th in Reydon, near Southwold.
Cause of Death
A post-mortem report by Professor Richard Ball attributed the cause of death to acute hemopericardium resulting from a heart attack.
Further Investigation
Statements are being sought from James Paget and Norfolk and Norwich hospitals. Additional reports are required from Mr. Fordham's GP, Norfolk Police, and the patient transport provider. A pen portrait from his family is also requested.
Next Steps
A full inquest is scheduled for September at County Hall in Norwich.
Robert Fordham passed away in the vehicle on Lowestoft Road in Reydon, near Southwold, on October 7.
An inquest into the death of the retired civil engineer, from Beech Rise in Bradwell, near Great Yarmouth, has been opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court.
It heard how a post mortem report from consultant histopathologist Professor Richard Ball gave the 80-year-old's medical cause of death as acute hemopericardium due to a heart attack.Â
While the details of which hospital he was being taken to – and where from – have not been revealed, the court heard that statements are required from both the James Paget and Norfolk and Norwich hospitals.Â
