Many attendees wore white clothing and brought flowers to lay at the spot where the police vehicle hit the boy. Candles were lit, and donations were collected to support Fabian’s family.
The gathering began in silence around 11:00 but saw several speakers express gratitude, sorrow, and anger before noon. The crowd frequently chanted “Justice for Fabian,” highlighting their dismay at the lack of official response from police or politicians. One speaker remarked that in any other country, the police chief and the Interior Minister would have resigned by now.
Shortly after the incident, a banner accusing the police of murder was hung on a façade on Landsroemlaan, where the accident occurred. One speaker claimed the police forced residents to remove it, provoking boos from the crowd and chants of “Police everywhere, justice nowhere.”
