A 13-year-old girl has been left "traumatised for life" after being subjected to a brutal attack on a train.
The teenager, named Ruby, suffered a broken wrist during the horrific 15-minute ordeal, despite pleading with her assailants to stop the violence.
Broadcast across Snapchat, the chilling incident shows Ruby enduring a barrage of kicks, punches to the head, and having her hair yanked, while enduring verbal abuse from female attackers.
Amid the relentless assault, Ruby, in tears, implored: "Please leave us alone."
Ruby's aunt, Tammie Barclay, shared with The Mirror the terrifying details: "They held her captive on the Metro and they asked for money to stop beating her up."
The incident began when Ruby, from North Shields, boarded the Tyne and Wear Metro at Whitley Bay on Friday afternoon (April 4). After some time, a group of individuals joined the train and "two females" proceeded to attack her until the train reached St James' station.
Despite Ruby, who was with a friend, handing over Β£10, Tammie added: "They still carried on beating her up. She's got chunks of her hair missing out of her head as well.
"It lasted roughly 15 minutes. They were pulling her hair, punching the top of her head rapidly, and she has got a broken wrist."
Tammie described the impact on Ruby, saying she is naturally "shaken up" and added: "She will have trauma for the rest of her life because of this β she will be scared to go to school and everything and face everyone."
After the unsettling incident, her family immediately reported the matter to the police, who are now conducting an investigation.
Subsequently, Tammie created a GoFundMe page with a modest goal of Β£30 to cover the cost of Ruby's money and coat, which had been "ripped to shreds".
Overwhelmingly, the response exceeded all expectations as Tammie revealed: "I woke up the next day and it was over a Β£1,000. I couldn't believe it."
Ruby's response was one of sheer astonishment, with Tammie describing: "She is literally overwhelmed with it. I was sitting reading all the comments out to her because the first post went viral and had over 5.9k shares on it.
"I was trying to read as many appropriate ones as I could to her. She just got overwhelmed and was crying to be honest."
As supporters continued to contribute, the funds surged past Β£3,600, prompting Tammie to urge donors on the fundraiser page: "Thank you everyone. Please stop donations. Ruby has got more than enough to have a lovely day out.
"Do not send any more money please there is over Β£3k. That's a lot of money to a little girl. Thank you everyone, Ruby is over the moon."
A representative from Northumbria Police stated: "Shortly before 7.55pm on Friday, April 4, we received a report of a disturbance near to Wallsend Metro Station.
"Officers attended where it was reported a teenage girl had been assaulted by two other females while on board the train. Those involved had already left the area before police arrival.
"The victim β aged 13 β was left shaken by the incident and was taken to hospital to be checked over. She has since been discharged and is being supported by officers."
