While on patrol May 8 an officer reported he was flagged down by an individual who said a white Chevy truck came speeding down Plum Street and came to an abrupt stop at the intersection of Grand and Plum. A white male fell out of the truck. The man, who was believed to have been evicted from the vehicle, was described as wearing a book bag and a blue shirt with long hair.

The witness said a verbal exchange went on before the man then grabbed a shovel from the back of the truck and started swinging it, running down Grand Street.

He was later located by the description given and asked whether he was ok. He stated he was fine, and that he was walking home to an address on A-1.

While out patrolling the area of East Locust St. May 9 an officer noticed a dark SUV with a temp tag on the back. The driver looked to be driven by William Anthony Morris, 34, of Fairdealing, known to have a revoked Missouri drivers license.

Morris’ information was checked through Doniphan Dispatch and his driver’s status was affirmed to be revoked.

The officer turned around and pulled the vehicle over just outside of city limits at Bates steel yard.

He advised Morris that the plate cover on his vehicle was covering up the expiration of the temp tag. He exited the vehicle and the officer asked for his driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Morris stated that he didn’t have a license and that he knew he shouldn’t be driving but he had to pick up the kids from school and the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend. As Morris was looking for his insurance the officer noticed several juveniles in the back seat area.

At this time he was joined at the scene by another officer.

Morris provided a copy of the insurance sent to him on his cell phone from the owner of the vehicle.

Morris was transported to the Ripley County Detention Center and booked on suspicion of driving while suspended, after making arrangements for individuals to drive the vehicle and take custody of the children passengers. He was cited and released.

An officer was patrolling May 11 on Oak Lane by the storage sheds and was met head on by a white Chevrolet Silverado driven by Staci Marie Suarez, 50, of Doniphan, known to have a revoked has a revoked driver’s license.

She was pulled over and checked through Dispatch for any wants or warrants. Dispatch then advised the license plate on the vehicle checked to New Life Ministries on a Buick.

Suarez was arrested and transported to the Ripley County Detention Center, where she was issued citations for driving while revoked, no insurance and failure to register a motor vehicle.

A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle.

An officer was on patrol May 11 and observed a silver Mercury Milan with a red 2024 expiration tab. He initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, a white male who identified himself as Brian Williams, stated he was buying the vehicle from the passenger, and was only test driving it.

He stated he did not have his wallet with him, but provided his name and date of birth.

The passenger provided his driver’s license and said there was no insurance on the vehicle because it has been sitting.

Both subjects were run through Dispatch and was unable to get any returns on Williams, who stated he could not provide his social security number.

Williams, at this time, began to seem nervous. His hands were shaking and he was beginning to sweat.

Since he could not be identified, the officer asked him to step out of the vehicle. He was placed in wrist restraints for safety and seated in the patrol car.

The passenger was questioned about the identity of the subject, and said his name was “either Bruce or Brian.”

The FASTID system identified the subject by his fingerprints as Bruce Ray Wilson, 56, who had two active warrants through Ripley County for passing bad checks.

The information was sent to the prosecutor. An additional charge against Wilson for suspicion of hindering prosecution is pending review.

An officer was dispatched May 11 to a residence on Pine Street to assist a deputy on a request to trespass an individual.

The property owner asked for law enforcement to be present so that the renter could remove her dogs and any property she could quickly grab.

Also there was a room that had been boarded closed and the landlord wanted the room accessed while the renter was present.

The evicted tenant gathered her dogs and waited while dispatch sent the city fire chief to arrive with a Halligan and access the room. She was then permitted to leave.
