Shaily S. Agrate, a 24-year-old resident of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following an incident on Thursday, May 1st. The victim sustained a severe laceration on her left forearm caused by a Ninja blender blade.
Police responded to a call at a home on Trenton Court where they found the victim bleeding heavily. The victim reported a verbal altercation with Agrate preceding the assault. She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of an arterial bleed.
Agrate claimed self-defense, stating that the victim threatened violence and she reacted by grabbing the blender blade. Police reported observing no injuries on Agrate.
Police collected evidence including the blood-stained blender blade, and observed significant blood spatter inside and outside the residence.
Agrate is currently being held in Butler County Prison on a $25,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 16th before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.

Police said they arrived to a home on Trenton Court to find a woman bleeding heavily from a laceration on her left forearm. The woman said she got into a verbal altercation with Agrate before she was struck with the blade.
The woman was transported to Allegheny General Hospital for an “arterial bleed.”
Police spoke with Agrate who said the woman had been threatening to “fight her” during the verbal altercation, and she grabbed the blade to defend herself. Police said they did not observe any injuries on Agrate.
Police found the blade with blood on it and a large amount of blood throughout the residence and outside.
Agate is being held in Butler County Prison on a $25,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. May 16 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
