Rail traffic will be completely halted between Nivelles (Walloon Brabant) and Brussels from Saturday morning until Tuesday morning, announced infrastructure manager Infrabel on Thursday.

This interruption will allow technical teams to continue work on the project to add two tracks to the Nivelles-Brussels line.

Specifically, teams will carry out preparatory work for laying new tracks at Waterloo and Nivelles stations. Between Waterloo and Braine-l'Alleud, other teams will install catenary cables to supply electricity to the two new tracks. Signal modification works will also be conducted at various locations along the line.

Infrabel has ensured optimal coordination of its projects and aims to complete several works simultaneously. Various switches will undergo thorough maintenance during these disruptions.

All trains will be replaced by buses between Brussels-Midi and Nivelles. Direct SNCB/NMBS buses will stop at Brussels-Midi, Braine-l'Alleud, and Nivelles. Multi-stop buses will pass through Brussels-Midi, Forest-Est, Uccle-Stalle, Uccle-Calevoet, Moensberg, Linkebeek, Rhode-Saint-Genรจse, Waterloo, Braine-l'Alleud, Lillois, and Nivelles. These buses will not stop at Holleken and De Hoek.

Additionally, S19 Leuven-Brussels-Schuman-Nivelles trains will run only between Leuven, Brussels Airport, and Brussels-Luxembourg station.

SNCB/NMBS advises travellers to plan their journeys by consulting the planner via its app or website, which already accounts for these changes.
