The article details significant projects undertaken by the honorees, including major developments in London (Eric Parry), the Neues Museum in Berlin (Julian Harrap), and urban planning work for Transport for London (Jenny Hamilton).
The overarching themes in the article center around recognition of contributions to architecture, urban planning, design, and cultural development within the UK. Sustainability and heritage preservation are also notable aspects.
Parry, who set up Eric Parry Architects in 1983, is behind several major current projects in the City of London, including the under-construction Justice Quarter off Fleet Street and the 74-storey One Undershaft tower, approved in December, which will sit between RSHP’s Leadenhall building and Foster + Partners’ Gherkin.
Harrap founded Julian Harrap Architects 10 years earlier. The practice is known for its repair and restoration of historic buildings, estates, and landscapes.
The 52-year-old practice’s highest-profile jobs include the Neues Museum in Berlin, working with David Chipperfield Architects, and the new Museum of London within the revamped Smithfield Market, due to open next year.

Elsewhere in the birthday honours, Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham was given a CBE for ‘services to culture and Manchester International Festival/Factory International’.
The developer had previously received an MBE for services to architecture and regeneration in 1999.
Bloxham said: ‘I’ve been fortunate to enjoy a long and diverse career – one that has opened doors to extraordinary opportunities and allowed me to pursue my passion for arts and culture.
‘Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most brilliantly talented figures in the cultural sector, and I’m truly delighted that those collective efforts have been recognised today.’
Meanwhile Jenny Hamilton, who started working with Transport for London (TfL) in 1990, received an MBE for her work masterplanning some of London’s busiest and most complex tube stations. She was officially recognised for ‘services to transport planning and accessibility’.
There were also OBEs for campaigner and leader in sustainable and circular design Sophie Thomas of recently closed agency thomas.matthews and etsaW Ventures, as well as for planning expert Gareth Capner, for ‘services to good quality housing’.
Capner chaired the Housing Design Awards from 2010 until 2024.
