PITTSFIELD — A city man arrested last month on domestic violence and illegal gun possession allegations is facing more charges after authorities searched his home and found more firearms, police said.
Terrell D. Ortiz, 45, had been arrested April 16 after police said he displayed a gun during a domestic assault. At the time, officers seized a loaded Heckler & Koch handgun.
Ortiz, who is not eligible to own a firearm because of a previous weapon conviction, was ordered held without the right to bail at the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction for up to 120 days.
After his arrest, police learned Ortiz allegedly had additional firearms in his Francis Avenue apartment, according to court documents. The court granted a warrant to search the residence on April 23.
Police said officers found one semi-automatic revolver, three semi-automatic handguns and one AR-15 style rifle with a defaced serial number in the apartment. One of the handguns had previously been reported stolen.
Also recovered from the apartment were 733 rounds of ammunition and a large-capacity feeding device, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on Thursday on 23 additional offenses, including five counts of subsequent offense possession of a firearm without an FID card and improper storage of a firearm.
