ALICE HARE: My luxury fashion guide to looking like you’ve been on holiday at The Four Seasons or The Ritz from just £118

I had a sobering moment recently: I realised I was wearing a cap emblazoned with The Ritz’s logo while staying in a Travelodge on the side of a British motorway.

I can only hope the check-in staff thought I was less delusional, more aspirational. For ‘resortcore’ is having a moment. Resortcore? The expansion of luxury hotel merchandise, often in collaboration with of-the-moment fashion brands. The allure? The right merch signals you’re part of the right club.

And, let’s be honest, it makes people think you’ve just come back from a five star break. The good news is - you don’t need to take on a new mortgage, or even leave your sofa to get in on the action.

What could once only be purchased at the resort shop by guests forking out a fortune, can now be snapped up online...So if your taste is The Plaza, but budget more Premier Inn, here’s our guide to the trendiest luxury hotel merch of the moment.

The Four Seasons

We know, we know, The White Lotus is a fictional hotel – but all three series of the smash series have been filmed at tropical Four Seasons resorts. And the ‘White Lotus effect’ means the Four Seasons look – think bright, printed resortwear – is all the rage.

For pricey paradisiacal prints, head to Camilla - they’ve collaborated with The White Lotus on a clothing range that subtly features the fictional hotel’s iconography. The sarong (£254, uk.camilla.com) is a multi-ways-to-wear wonder

Back in the real world, London brand Paper has partnered with the Hampshire branch of the Four Seasons to produce a chic tote bag that would be equally at home in Hampshire and Hawaii (£75, paperlondon.com).

The Ritz Paris

An international byword for luxury? The Ritz Paris, bien sûr. Coco Chanel lived there in the latter years of her life, for goodness’ sake. It doesn’t get much chicer than that. F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Princess Diana also famously stayed. And recently, the hotel released their fourth collaboration with American denim brand Frame, combining French elegance with sportswear cool.

Such is the allure of the legendary hotel that even those well known to have the budget to permanently abide there can’t resist signalling their allegiance more widely – Hailey Bieber has been spotted in the Frame x The Ritz cap. The logo-emblazoned (trust The Ritz to make logos chic) Breton t-shirt (£188, farfetch.com) offers Parisian prestige wherever you go – even if it is a Travelodge.

The Fife Arms

Located just 15 minutes from Balmoral in the village of Braemar, The Fife Arms is a firm favourite with A-listers including Rita Ora and Judi Dench. And no wonder – its unique combination of old-world Caledonian charm with modern luxury is summed up by the fact artworks by Picasso hang on its walls alongside watercolours by Queen Victoria and the King.

The Fife’s merch nods to their Highlands heritage – highlights include their silk scarf boasting pictures of the hotel through the ages (£75, shop.thefifearms.com) and cashmere socks exclusively made for them by Scottish cashmere queen Rosie Sugden (£40).

The Newt

‘A country estate reimagined’ is The Newt in Somerset’s tagline. The members’ club’s luxurious facilities (restaurants, swimming pools, a spa) are set amongst rolling orchards and woodland, with a Georgian manor house as the focal point.

Talk about bucolic. This perfectly balanced old-meets-new fusion attracts the most stylish of the Somerset set, who come from the nearby trendy towns of Bruton and Frome. The good news? The goodies sold at the idyllic shops on The Newt’s grounds are available to shop online too.

So even if your lifestyle is less slow Somerset living, more sweating on the Central Line, you can channel the former anyway. Their adorable baguette bag epitomises their slow living ethos (£6.50, shop.thenewtinsomerset.com).

Estelle Manor

‘A new school club with old school values’, Estelle Manor is the Oxfordshire companion to Mayfair members’ club Maison Estelle. On the doorstep of the Cotswolds, Estelle’s parkland and Grade II-listed house perfectly befit Jilly Cooper’s favourite setting.

No wonder their shop doesn’t sell overpriced magnets and mechanical pencils. Their shop, rather, is so beautifully curated it’s a destination in its own right. And while you need to be a member to visit in person, the online store has democratised a slice of Estelle living. Their tote is humorously self-aware (£60), or try their menswear-style shirts (£270) (themuse.estellemanor.com).

The Carlyle

Great news for those lacking air miles – you no longer need to travel transatlantic to dip your toe in the luxury of New York’s most iconic hotel. Located on the Upper East Side (naturally), The Carlyle is where A-listers stay when attending the Met Gala. So well-frequented by celebrities since its opening 1930, it’s earned the nickname the ‘Palace of Secrets’.

And The Carlyle’s recent collaboration with sportswear brand of the moment Sporty & Rich evokes the decadent repose for which the hotel is famous. The cashmere crewneck jumpers (£179) and 100% US-grown cotton sweatshirts (£137, sportyandrich.com), featuring the hotel’s instantly recognisable, elegant cursive logo, offer a welcome upscaling to the itchy polyester t-shirts typically associated with ‘merchandise’. Talk about encapsulating a stay at a luxury hotel. I never liked the queues at Heathrow anyway.
